OMG! The move! Packing with two small children is difficult. Box after box while the kids watched Teletubbies, Play School, Charlie and Lola…anything! To be honest, when I first walked into the new house (after walking through our hideous back yard) and saw the boxes stacked up in the living room, I almost cried. What had I done? I’d packed up my life and moved to the country. My poor husband. He had to be the rock. He assured me our home would be beautiful and that we’d made the right decision.

Just found your blog via Fun and Vj’s, very nice to meet another renovator on a budget, especially involving a queenslander house. We have a california bungalow called Betsy in Brisbane and are slowly doing things to make her over. I am currently painting (myself) the whole interior plain old vivid white – was previously custard. My blog is supposed to be about the reno but seems to involve crazy stuff my kids get up to, creative exploits and op shopping for vintage sheets and pyrex. Looking forward to hearing more, do you think you can work out how to enlarge your pictures- that would make a big difference. melx
Hi Mel!
How exciting! Yours is the very first comment I’ve received! I’m really clueless about this blogging thing. It’s taking me ages to figure anything out. I didn’t even see your post until today (Saturday!). Thanks for writing!
Yes, “budget” is the defining factor of all the work we’ve done. I’m going to try to remember to actually disclose the costs of our projects because it is interesteing to know how much something costs if you’re considering embarking on something similar.
I’ve been posting the pics as thumbnails. Are you able to click on them and see them enlarged in a gallery format? If not, I’ll post them in larger format. Thanks for the feedback. I’ll be sure to check out your blog!
I have a feeling I’ve already seen it. Probably through Fun and VJs also!

Boxes upon boxes. Argh yes I know that all too well at the moment. I have counted the empty ones we’ve unpacked so far and it’s over 70! Only been a week but overwhelming how much there is to do still.
Love your blog btw!
